The October Cherries

During the late 60s and early 70s, The October Cherries were one of the most innovative local groups in Singapore and Malaysia. They have about 20 albums to their credit. They started their recording career as The Surfers, and branched out on their own as the October Cherries and Jade & Pepper in the later years.

A compilation of some of their previous hits were released on CD in 1995. It included titles like Something I Like About You, Coffee Toffee Squares, Don't Tell It To Jane, Far Away Now, Cu Cu Cu Choo, I'll Wait, All Alone Like The Deep & Lonely Sea, Felicia-Flowers For Your Grave, I Love Suzie, All Things Work Together For Good To Them That Love God, Butterfly, Please Love Me, Beautiful Sunday, Chingay, Can't Stand The Pace, I Wanna Be Loved By You, This Is A Love Song and Bad Trip. A "must-buy" for all their fans.

Hello:
My name is Sergio, I've been living in the USA for almost a quarter of a century, but I was born and raised in Chile.
I'd like to know if someone can help me getting "Jade & Pepper - Coffee Toffee Squares"...It's impossible for me to get it here in America, and it was kinda popular in Chile and Argentina as well in the early 70's
If someone is kind enough to help me..Here's my address:

From my understanding thru Strait times, October Cherries will turn back the clock once more to their golden era of the '70 on Tuesday, June 23, at Timbre@The Arts House. That's when the trio -- Peter Diaz, Jay Shotam and Richard Khan -- will twist and shout at their gig which is part of the Singapore River Festival.
Hopefully there will be a write up who will be witness the show.

i recently found the world hits 75 album for a dollar at a record sale. had no idea who the band was but am amazed at the pop music (even if it is all covers) that this band produced!! great stuff - now i'm looking for more. thanks for the info about them. cheers.

ps the last track on side one "tonight" has no credits to it - was it one of the band's own songs?

The October Cherries had a series of World Hits albums - 72, 73, 75 etc. There was another simply titled "October Cherries World Hits", produced by Christopher John Luhr. Their first LP might have been "Meet The October Cherries". There was another released in 1974 " In Love With You". All their LPs were on the BAAL Records label. The song "Tonight" was also recorded by another group - "The Rubettes".

Any of the Tony, Terry and Spencer trio still singing and playing?
I would lik to contact them.
I left for the states in '84, was a close fan of theirs.
Kept late nights with them at the Imperial lounge.
If you happen to meet up with them tell them Winston says Hello.
Would like to catch up with them next time in Singapore.
Thanks!

Just found out there was a UK branch of the Baal label, I don't know if the band was based here for a while, but I have a 7" of Western Shore by Jeremiah Star, which is Jay Shotam under an assumed name on a UK Baal release, distributed by Pye...

Shotam brothers went to England set up BAAL Inc in 1976. Even BAAL have their ownwd recording studio. Other than Cherries. AJL Band, Funkgus II & Jay Shotam studio albums were recorded there. Too bad that they did not started earlier. By then it will be a much different tales

Is there anyway to buy this October Cherries in MP3 form? I especially loved "Felicia Flowers For your Grave" and HAD it on vinyl as a single until (during a move) it broke). Anyway I can find an MP3 of that song?
